Being Relaxed: CD by Dr Alan Fahey
This is a relaxation programme designed to be listened to once or twice daily for a period of 6 weeks. There is a thorough 15 minute introduction which is educational and provides the listener with information on ’stress’ and what benefits can be expected with regular relaxation. The programme has been
written/performed by Dr Alan Fahey who is a medical doctor with a Masters in psychology. His Australian accent will be soothing to many.
There are 3 main relaxation tracks to choose from on the CD including progressive muscle relaxation (approx 25 minutes) and mental relaxation including guided imagery (approx 30 minutes). The mood, in terms of accompanying music, is set using a soothing classical
combination of legato strings with traditional harp overtones.
With the choice of music accompaniment and the fact that it is also available on cassette, this relaxation programme caters to the older generation which is possibly a generation who has been neglected in the past by other relaxation CDs on the market containing more ‘new age’ music.
Overall, this relaxation program takes the listener through step-by-step so that people who have never relaxed in this way, or, those who really find mind-body relaxation difficult should be able to finally relax over the 6 week period of practice.
